A new coming out ritual

Two variations of this prayer include one spoken by a person coming out and one for a witness.

This prayer/blessing was written in 2020 for the 50th anniversary of Christopher Street Liberation Day, what we now collectively call Pride.

A coming out ritual

An affirmative, creative ritual for coming out to a community.

“And wherever there is Pride, there is hope. / And wherever there is hope, there is joy. / And wherever there is joy, there is life. / And that life is sweet, and full of love.”

“We celebrate the triumph / Of love over hate”

“I wanted a way of acknowledging and bringing my own queerness into the wedding ceremony”

We see each other and we honor our journeys and those yet to come.

“Rainbows and storms go hand in hand”
