Secular holidays give us the chance to widen our communities of celebration. We can join with other Americans for prayer, introspection or community service, as we observe holidays that connect us to each other. We can also interpret these holidays in a Jewish context, understanding them in light of the texts and experiences of our people.
“That he may lead wisely and justly … with the highest and best intentions for all”
A prayer for the new U.S. president that asks for love and justice to trump hate
A collective prayer for the incoming president, 2017
A blessing for one’s parents
A prayer in response to the 2016 United States presidential election
“This day the destiny of the nation lies in the hands of us, its citizens.”
“May the One who graces each person with knowledge… bless and protect the voters of this land”
A prayer for the 2016 presidential election
Oh G-d, give us the strength and wisdom to make it through this campaign season
After Election Day / will our voices still be seething? / will our minds still be heaving?
