A prayer for the new month
“My student texts: So excited. First time I voted! / Mazel tov, I respond…”
“When my grandfather died, his body swelled again / fluid filled him, drowning him from inside.”
This short poem is inspired by the process of creation as told in Bereshit.
“I strive to generate some forgiveness / for the failures of my growing up life…”
“And still, here we are again / clutching to an ancient book / that has traveled through time / from bitterness to joy…”
“When I open my mouth no sound comes out..”
“Rain pours through the schach open to the stars…”
“My fingers reached out, / my heart longed…”
“Only advice to plant first / and welcome the Messiah later…”
