Elders’ Prayer

Let our prayers sing out
from heart stream and breath flow
even as our voices grow softer.

Let us pray with vision
even if eyesight dims.

Let our prayers help unbind
the knots of this world.
Let our hands keep nimble
through comfort they offer.

Let our prayers bless ourselves,
bless others,
bless loved ones and strangers,
bless earth
for the next generations.

Let us pray with courage
through joy or pain
whether we trust or question.

Let prayers open us up
to what words can’t contain.
