Welcoming Shabbat

a white doves lifts its wings to fly
Tomorrow evening,
we welcome the angels of peace–
the candles will be lit with a spark
that could burn my fingers.
my heart quickens
a smile, a glint in the eye, when the candles are lit.
the door will open,
the Shekhinah and her entourage of angels
will enter our temple in time.
It holds us in temporary timelessness
and in eternal peace–
a shroud woven in blue and gold encircling us,
pink-red hearts form a circle within,
glowing life nests at the center
the white dove of peace will soon fly into the world.
