We Belong to Each Other

you belonged before you boarded the bus this morning
you belonged before you dropped off the kids at their mom’s
you belonged before you caught your friend’s eyelash resting lightly atop their eyelid
you belonged before you breathed the lack of air inside the subway car
you belonged before you got the coffee
you belonged before you pulled into the grocery store
you belonged after you mourned all these things
and when you sit to think of them
someone somewhere is remembering
you belong
we belong to each other
that is how to mop the pieces of our breaking hearts off the floor
no sanitizer
hand or otherwise
required after or before

Learning to Say "We": Writing Identity

In this immersion, we will reflect and expand on our personal experiences of identity, using writing exercises and in-depth discussions to think about, challenge, discover, explore, and experiment with different ways to identify ourselves, to consider how those ways connect us to and separate us from others, and how they represent and misrepresent aspects of who we are.

Four sessions, starting June 15th
