The Unanswered Questions

a woman looks up at the sky, hands in prayer at her heart
Sitting quietly
contemplating
ruminating
I feel
the presence
of
my
Jewish ancestors
trying
to
soothe me
telling me
everything
will be
alright.
Yet
as much
as I want
to believe them,
when
I pause to think
about
all of
the Israeli
children, women & men
who were
mutilated and/or slaughtered
in just one day,
I have trouble
believing them.
Who has such hatred
and such immorality
to mutilate and/or slaughter
a baby?
Who has such hatred
and such immorality
to force a baby
or a child
to witness
the slaughter
of their loved ones?
I cannot be soothed
because there are
no moral answers
to my questions.
I do not believe
That G_d even has
moral answers.
Thus
I remain unassuaged.
