Retirement Prayer

two yellow birds on grey bare branches
I bid farewell to
A long and humble career
Marred by imperfections but
Graced by fulfillment (and flashes of brilliance)
At the end I am content

And not so far ahead, I see
Infinity stretching out before me

So teach me to number my days
Savor the music of the birds
Entwine my branches with those of others
In sync, but not in entanglement
Deeply, but with room to breathe

Grant me connection
And allow me to find my path to
Tikkun olam
