If We Could Speak Light

could invite it into
our cracked vessels

then we could coat
every rough surface

the way tiles bond
with grout and luck.

If we could pluck shards
from the dark, the unknown

then we could discover
their shapes and sharp edges,

to see where they fit together.
We could fashion a mosaic

of patterns and pathways,
of fear, hope and love –

all shining, all blessing.
