I strive to be kadosh, holy.
I strive to be a tzakik, a righteous one.

And then I slip.

I get up. I pursue justice.
And love my neighbor as myself.

And then I slip.

I get up. I pursue justice, again.
And, again, I love my neighbor as myself.
I don’t keep all of my income but donate some to the poor, the orphan, the widow.

And then I slip.

I get up. I pursue justice again.
And, again, I love my neighbor as myself.
And, again, I don’t keep all of my income but donate some to the poor, the orphan, the widow.
And I lessen my carbon footprint.

And then I slip.

And I continue, adding more holiness and righteousness to my life.
And I continue slipping.

And I continue getting up again.
Never actually reaching my heavenly destinations of holiness and righteousness, but striving all the way.
And along the way, I learn that the slipping was merely an optical illusion, like the toy, Jacob’s Ladder.

And that what’s important is
Getting up again
Not giving up
Continuing on a holy, righteous journey.
