To Love All

a field of wildflowers
Are there ones so close we can touch them?
Some so close we can feel their breath?
Some with whom we exchange kind words?
These are the beloveds within our realm.

Reaching just beyond we find even more loves.
We hold them in our hearts,
we think of them through our intellect.
the spirit holds this blessing of our beings.

Beyond are those much less like us.
Our differences challenge our connection.
When we meet each other we hold back,
but we search for some understanding.

Also there are those who harm others.
Who place their well-being ahead of us.
Are we not called to reach, hold & love them?
For if we don’t, who then are we?
