The Uncertainty of Faith

A comet travels into our space unlike any other,
and a hope meme goes virtual:
We are not alone.
A virus invades our world,
and pushes us to outer space
where we find ourselves alone.

Was the palace full of light
or was it an unknown comet
that caused Abraham to find his feet?
Journeying inwards, he wandered
through the plains of existence
to a deeper understanding of the One.

Some place their hope in a comet unlike any other.
Some think it’s the face of God or an angel of light.
But I refuse to beat my faith against such a rock,
and choose instead to seek out the One
who muddles and obfuscates the obvious,
whose intangible divinity lives and breathes
in those divested of simple certainties.
