Tradition & Innovation

Re'eh

a ink pen presses against a piece of paper. There is script on the lines ahead of the pen.
“See, I set before you this day, a blessing and a curse. Choose blessing.”

It’s “Water Cooler Wednesday”,

In this, the second week

Of your retirement.

Facing you across the altar that is our table,

In our downsized 1 bedroom hipster condo.

You with pen,

Me, facing type,

Having sung ourselves closer,

We settle into writing.

And, between the silence,

Of my own heart beating,

A poem hums me back,

Back to you.

Sofer.
