Prayer of a Family Facing Difficult Medical Decisions

Holy One, our family is suffering.

The ups and downs of __________’s illness are excruciating.

We see __________’s struggles and we are overwhelmed by our sense of helplessness.

We are exhausted, stressed, unsure.

We continue to pray for __________’s healing.

But we are afraid.

Be with us, Compassionate Presence.

Guide us as we take in medical information and

try to understand what __________ would want if __________could tell us.

Give us strength. Be with us as we journey through this maze of decision-making.

Bless us with wisdom. Help us to find holiness in this time.

Bring every member of our family to a place of peace.

Hear our prayer.

Amen.
