A Prayer for Tisha B’Av

Waves crash against jagged dark rocks in the ocean, sending up white sea spray and foam.
This new Tisha B’Av prayer is based on Sim Shalom, the closing blessing in the Amidah.

The Infinite One heals our broken hearts
And holds us in our sorrows
Psalm 147:3

Please, we beseech you,
Place peace, goodness, blessing,
Life, grace, love and
Compassion upon all beings.

Bring us to our knees in the face of suffering.
Let us feel your presence,
In the midst of devastation and despair.

Let shared sorrows and
Communal grief,
Soften our hearts
And turn us toward each other
With kindness and love.

Open for us the paths of life.

Help us perceive goodness.
Help us see blessings.

May our broken hearts find comfort,
May our grieving souls know love.

Let this time make us strong.
Amen.
