May the One who spreads over us the shelter of peace ensure protection for our community in Israel. We pray that they feel God’s love and ours as they heal. May the People of Israel always remember that we are a sometimes difficult, eternally bonded family who have survived the many challenges of our long history.
God of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar, may the land of covenant and promise, sanctified by the children of both their sons, become an oasis of peace in a chaotic world. May that sacred earth be a source of blessing, and may its sanctity someday bear witness to a just and lasting peace. When the Divine Voice calls out, “Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground,” may we become like Isaac and Ishmael, who grieved their father side by side.
Judge of Truth, please give the leaders of the community of Israel strong hearts and upright spirits. Set their sights on a future of peace and kindness. May they be guided by the words of the prophet Micah:
עֲשׂ֤וֹת מִשְׁפָּט֙ וְאַ֣הֲבַת חֶ֔סֶד וְהַצְנֵ֥עַ לֶ֖כֶת עִם־אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃
Asot mishpat, v’ahavat hesed, v’hatznea lekhet im Eloheikha
Do justice
Love goodness,
And walk humbly with your God.
