Gentle Boys: A Mother’s Prayer

Woman holding a baby and playing a guitar, both seated on the floor, smiling.

So, I live in the United States where an awful thing just played out on the public stage. This is a prayer I wrote for my 3 sons, for boys everywhere, for parents everywhere, for children everywhere, for humans everywhere, for the earth, for healing. #GentleBoys #RainbowTrain #NoJusticeNoSeat #KavaNAW

Gentle Boys: A Mother’s Prayer

You were born gentle

You were born whole
You were born kind
With a pure soul
As sure as you came from me
Into the air
Here is my love song to you
Here is my prayer
A Mother’s Prayer
May you know justice
Enough to be fair
May you be cared for
Enough to care
May you be listened to
Enough to truly hear
Your own humanity
And draw it near

May you have the strength
To clearly see
Nothing is threatening
Your masculinity
May you honor
Your feminine side
May you feel fully free, fully you
With nothing to hide

May you have the courage
To understand the meaning of “No”
To see that you don’t have to use force
To make yourself known
Oh you gentle boys,
You will find the way
May you have vision
Walk with women
And together say

You were born gentle
You were born whole
You were born kind
With a pure soul
As sure as you came from me
Into the air
This is my love song to you

Here is my prayer – A Mother’s Prayer
