The Voice of the Rainbow

Once upon a time I was placed in readiness in the sky by the Holy Jokester who had all kinds of tricks. I saw what He had done with the wind and rain and tossing around that little ark with all the sets of animals and that family of people creatures and I waited … Oh I waited so very long it seemed …until one day, I was called to spread out my colors, but it took some doing: The droplets of water had to very fine, and the sun had to shine at very particular angle, and then, it was my cue. NOW! I got the message to fan out these colors in an order I had specially picked because they seemed to flow one into the other in what I’m calling a Spectrum from red through orange to yellow, then through green to a kind of blue that led to violet and then some other shades that I don’t really have names for, and I bent the cover of these hues so that they had anchors on two sides and then soared upwards around the ark.

Everyone came on deck to look and wonder and exclaim how beautiful, and I was quite satisfied with the result.  They took it to a whole different level, calling my ark of colors a Rainbow and a sign of hope and something called a Covenant.  Maybe that was the purpose all along, to lift up these creatures’ spirits after so long in the dark and cold of not knowing how and when the story would unfold?!

Will I be able to unfurl my pretty Colored Bow of Hues again?  I’m told Yes, and each time, people will stop and look and feel a renewed sense of wonder and hope.

I like being such a magical, colorful, hopeful sign.  Now I’m fading… and have to wait.

A double rainbow arches across the sky above green trees.
