Ruakh: The Covenant of Everything

Silhouetted pine trees under a clear, star-filled night sky with a purple hue.

Before us—everything;
after us—everything.

Endless void, stars percolating in the womb
beg for freedom, birth, extrusion from their tomb.

Life begets external surety, G-d’s gift to us
is pure Creation in potential, Eternal Spirit in gust—

ruakh—the crisp and the cusp of life breath—
a booming heart-pulse that defies death.

The Divine Hug is trust manifest
so, to our best endeavor
we will uphold our end of the Covenant.

Twilight stars wink at us, insight into what lies Beyond
our veil of everyday—and when, where, and what happens
after we are gone.

Before us—everything;
After us—everything.
