Shalen Lowell

Shalen Lowell (they/them) is a transgender author and poetresiding in Southern Maine. They specialize in fiction and poetry which represents the intersection of postmodern and queer literature genres, environmental consciousness, and the queer Jewish experience. This work culminated in the publishing of their first novel, Gender Optics. Shalen has also contributed several personal essays and chapters on trans/genderfluid identity and expression and binary gender privilege to edited volumes such as Privilege Through the Looking Glass and Scientists and Poets #RESIST with Brill Publishers.
