Remembering My Beloveds

Eternal G-d!
I thirst for my beloveds daily.
I long for their touch.
I recall the brush of their lips on my cheek.

I sense the feel of his skin, the grip of her hand in mine.
I smell the Shabbat meal she lovingly set out each week.
I hear the words of his mother’s Yiddish lullaby summoning me to dream.

I remember my beloveds daily.
I search for them.
They dwell deep in my soul.

I ache for my beloveds every day.
I know they are forever gone.
I know they are eternally present.
I will forever remember and treasure them.
