Keep the Tent Open: A Prayer After the Hostage Release

O Holy One,

Help us to have courage in the midst of fear

Help us to find the strength You know is in us

Help us to walk with kindness

May we remember to offer a stranger tea

May we find fitting gratitude for the law enforcement team

For the FBI

Help us to turn our hearts – even more –

To our allies and friends.

Help us find one another – across difference and through darkness.

Help us – Ezrat Sarah, Helper of Sarah – to uphold our human family even more today

Even as we have kept vigil

with hatred barring the door.

Like Abraham, let us have the courage to keep the tent flap open

For all who seek shelter and refuge.
