Daily Connecting With Shekinah Holy Presence

A glass of water with a diamond inside, water splashing as more water is poured in, against a starry background.

Morning Water: Healing Prayers To Start Your Day With a Glass of Water

As we have a hand washing prayer on awakening each morning, my Native American Brother (Tribal Elder) David West, told me his tribe prays with water placed in an East facing window to be blessed by the light of the Rising sun. I combined this practice into my Jewish “Priestly Blessing.”

Each morning, as you sip the water, imagine its clear healing energy move through your body.

Hold up your hands as you sing and feel it expanding sending your love and prayers for healing out through the palms of your hands  and fingertips.

Sing: May this Holy sacred water, water of life, water from the well of Life blessed by the light of the rising sun bring healing to (and name all you want to see healed, and all who you want to see healed.)

I then add, “And all who I love and all that I love. and for this I am grateful.”

Then sing my version of the Priestly Blessing, “May the light of the Holy one Shine above and through us and be gracious to us and bless the best of all we do and prosper and protect us and bring us peace and help us know and fulfill our highest destinies. And for this, for this, I am grateful. And May I be a source of love and compassion, of healing joy and peace for all who I encounter on this day. And for this I am grateful.”

As you sing this section of the prayer use your whole body to let it be a dance and really take notice. “Beauty above me. Beauty below me. Beauty  around me. Beauty within me. Blessed Be Blessed Be Blessed be. Amen.

EXTRA ORDINARY  by Madeleine Sklar

Some days I wake my room’s aglow kissed by golden light
I shower and as the waterfalls its multitudinous droplets
fingers caress my face neck breasts and belly streaming
down legs and ankles pooling around my toes
Getting dressed a rainbow calls out for attention
I choose clothing and a flower for my hair
and colors to reflect this day of days
This common day of every day
Out on the deck I spread peanuts on a bench
Sing my water prayers for healing and peace
to be wafted aloft in the warming air
Sing to the birds and squirrels so they will eat
or collect and carry them where they’re needed
I sing to the grass some already dead some still green
and all the trees now leafed out fresh and luminescent in the sun
Observe how the first blooms of spring like dancers after a ball
have shed their fancy gowns and crumbled back to earth
Sing to the day unrolling like a magic carpet
To the metal shed in our yard with bent doors ajar
I sing to the aged wooden deck rotted by winter rains
At the market everyone I meet is tinged with golden light
Evening seated close on the bed holding hands we watch a movie
When you lean close and we kiss my eyes fill with tears
because I feel Holy Presence nowhere and everywhere
Ineffable beauty’s so great heart so full I can hardly contain it
And I know It’s always here everywhere when I remember to see
