Bridge

Wooden bridge with metal railings surrounded by colorful autumn trees under a dramatic cloudy sky.

The whole world is a narrow bridge but the main thing is not to be afraid.
—Rabbi Nachman of Breslov

What if that bridge were only
one vision
      revealed in a dream
that doesn’t always serve us,
that isn’t always
                  so narrow?

Because this morning so much opened:

light, sound and surfaces,
pen, notebook, water glass
shivering its tides
       as I reached for it,
my footfalls on solid floor,
my breath into poems and plans, each
an electrical impulse sparked out
as desire, a bridge
                              to you
