Al Ta’azveynu: A Piyyut for People with Borderline Personality Disorder

Al ta’azveynu, do not abandon us!
Al ta’azveynu, at the borderline
Al ta’azveynu, when I lose control
Al ta’azveynu, find order in disorder
Al ta’azveynu, in the present, Eternal
Al ta’azveynu, and also in the future
Al ta’azveynu, please don’t go
Al ta’azveynu, I feel so helpless
Al ta’azveynu, I am impatient
Al ta’azveynu, and you are jealous
Al ta’azveynu, I don’t know
Al ta’azveynu, who I’ve been my whole life
Al ta’azveynu, help me to be mindful
Al ta’azveynu, because I hardly notice
Al ta’azveynu, help me overcome
Al ta’azveynu, the faults of my personality
Al ta’azveynu, and remind me of my good qualities
Al ta’azveynu, when my faults are all I can remember
Al ta’azveynu, restore my sense of self
Al ta’azveynu, let me recover from trauma
Al ta’azveynu, the past has been unkind
Al ta’azveynu, but I have taken violence
& turned it into wisdom.

Al ta’azveynu, in my experience
Al ta’azveynu, abandonment changes you
Al ta’azveynu, so take away zero
& make me at-one.

Learning to Say "We": Writing Identity

In this immersion, we will reflect and expand on our personal experiences of identity, using writing exercises and in-depth discussions to think about, challenge, discover, explore, and experiment with different ways to identify ourselves, to consider how those ways connect us to and separate us from others, and how they represent and misrepresent aspects of who we are.

Four sessions, starting June 15th
