I Am A Boat: A Poem for Tevet

Wooden rowboat on a calm lake with green lily pads and gentle reflections in the water.

Tet is a Boat, it opens wide.
I am Tet.
I hold within me
the memories of my foremothers
the seeds of my descendants

I am a boat
I will turn your sinking/drownings
into floating
I carry them across the waters of Tevet
The rain, the snow
Like the Ark, I float

They name boats after women –
No wonder.
We hold it all
and we float
We are the Arks.
