One of my grandfather,
a young man in a fine suit.
I wondered:
did we lose people.
My father’s parents had many siblings,
maybe a dozen on each side.
I saw their names in our tree, but never
looked further. As a child, I knew
a few of them, but only a few.
A great uncle disappeared
into the camps.
His name is in Yad Vashem,
but I can never remember it.
