A Prayer for Our Precious Planet Earth

This prayer was written to acknowledge our roles as people struggling with climate change during this important year of shmitah.

Creator of all
Each morning I wake to the sun
Each night I sleep in the glow of the moon and stars
Each moment I am grateful for this planet
Where the air is just right
the temperature allows my existence
and the waters fulfill my thirst
I know that every choice I have made has not been one
with your creation at its center
But this year
As we celebrate shmitah — release
I will take another step
Toward each of my actions
Expressing
My devotion
to Your creation.
