This prayer was written to acknowledge our roles as people struggling with climate change during this important year of shmitah.Â

Creator of all
Each morning I wake to the sun
Each night I sleep in the glow of the moon and stars
Each moment I am grateful for this planet
Where the air is just right
the temperature allows my existence
and the waters fulfill my thirst
I know that every choice I have made has not been one
with your creation at its center
But this year
As we celebrate shmitah — release
I will take another step
Toward each of my actions
Expressing
My devotion
to Your creation.
