What If

raindrops on grass
What if the leaves did not change color,
and the flowers did not bloom?

What if there were no sun, nor stars,
nor big round Moon?

And if the sky wasn’t blue above,
and there was no such thing as Love?

What if there were no such thing as warmth or light,
and only the darkest coldest night?

What if there were no such thing as truth or faith
no forgiveness, gratitude, or grace?

What if there were no thought nor prayer
or hope or dreams anywhere?

Thankfully these blessings all exist,
sent from Heaven like a gentle kiss

Each passing ebb and flow of the tide
washing away the tears we cried,

With all our troubles and our pain,
at least we still have the rain.

And, we will dance again.
