Vayakhel: Pekudei in the Days of Twitter

person facing sunset with gray clouds on the horizon
When the world
Is on fire,
And the menorah
Is concealed,
We must bring
What we have
In order to
Rebuild.

Sometimes
This world
Tires me.
Sometimes
I tire me.
Sometimes
I burn my offering
Of this one
Precious life
All the while
Knowing
The avodah
I am mandated
To do.

The Hebrew people
Dismantled the mishkan
And took it to Moshe.
Each detail was included
Because every action matters,
Even when we
Are on the move,
And, especially,
When we are fuming.
