Sparking Hope

the moon looms over the mountains in a deep blue sky
as pain shrouds our world
in this dark epoch of days,
we search the skies
for signs
for the waxing moon,
for the light of distant stars.

each cosmic candle
shimmering
signaling
to each pintlele yid*

sparking hope
for an engulfing glow
to illuminate all peoples
through love,
the endlessly renewable resource
that lights our way.

*often translated as ‘Jewish spark’
