Soul and Flame

The spirit of humankind is the lamp of G!d, searching all the inward parts.
– Proverbs 20:27

If human soul is divine flame,
how can we draw close
to what flickers,

what springs
from blue expanse –
water, air or atmosphere?

It seems uprooted.
Flame can’t be grasped.
Yet souls draw near to recline, relax.

They don’t turn to ash,
but hover,
risk burn.

It’s not about anger,
which fires some flares.
No. The source

is a gathering
of memory, love, glints of intention,
a search.
