Mirror of Peace

light blue sky with clouds
reflections of feelings,
shining out into the world.
The kind hello offered
to neighbors, friends,
offering a smile
the best I can do right now.
Feeling weighed down,
feeling scared,
the blue of the sky reminds me
of those days after 9-11
when hope slowly returned.
Can we be mirrors of each other’s light?
Of each other’s hope?
Of each other’s strength?
Of each other’s humanity…
Taking the broken shards of glass,
creating a new mosaic
a new mirror
of peace.
