A Meditation On Those Who Have Harmed Us

At last, after all the years apart,

The gulf between us filled with yells and silent misgivings,

I have decided to understand

What formed you.

What pressed upon you.

To behold you as layers of crust in the Earth

Whose rocks build up and erode over time

(How are we to determine the source?)

I pour my nutrients

And my health into you and your many layers.

And for the first time in both our lives,

I give you the love you could not give me.

Barukh atah Adonai, eloheinu melekh ha-olam, she-asani b’tzelem Elohim.

Blessed are you Adonai, our God, sovereign of the universe, who made me in the image of God.
