Ma’ariv Aravim to End a Challenging Day

man standing on rocky beach at sunset
Blessed are You,
Eternal One

Who drapes the evening shadows
Like a blanket over my troubles

And passes
Even the hardest day
To its end.

Open for me
The gates of patience, kindness,
And hope,

And alert my eyes
As I walk on the paths
To reach them.

My Rock and my Cushion,
Guard me this night
As You have guarded us on all nights,

And allow me to use this darkness,
That when, at last, it passes
I may better see tomorrow’s light.

בְּרוּכָה אֶת הֲוָיָה
הַמַּעֲרִיבָה עֲרָבִים

Blessed are You, Havayah,
Who sets the evening.
