In Sadness There is Life

hands holding a tiny seedling

In the sadness of Tisha B’Av there is the light that we are blessed with life.

We remember the sadness of death
Yet we are blessed with life to hold the memory

We hear of the bomb blasts in the night
Yet we are alive in the presence of the sound

We know of the torture of those who are different
Yet we are living in our sameness

We witness the poverty of those near us
Yet we are surrounded by our riches

We are present to so many acts of hatred
Yet we are living with loving hearts

We know that so many around are suffering
Yet what do we do with the gifts we have been given?
