Every day is resurrection—
The body sleeps— one sixtieth of death
But is disrupted
To find its life served whole.
The sun— buried in a bed of shadows
Is reborn
In a thin sliver of light.
Giver and Taker of Souls—
I thank you for returning mine this morning.
May its flame clear away the clouds of night;
May its thought arrange the chaos of the dark
And trace out a glimmering path of hope.
.בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה הַמַּחֲזִיר נְשָׁמוֹת לִפְגָרִים מֵתִים
Barukh atah Adonai,
Hamachazir neshamot lifgarim meitim.
Blessed are You, Eternal One
Who returns souls to dead bodies.
