For the City G-d Built

A person walks through a dimly lit stone tunnel towards a sunlit courtyard.

An intention to halt imminent dehousing, evictions and continued occupation of East Jerusalem

this is the city that g-d built

that every beam is kindness

that in the front yard grows a tree that belongs to the ancients and their children

that love is never a taking away

that in the streets now strewn in blood tears
we remember to pray

but first play

and so we forget our own house
and walk in g-d’s

neighborhood
