For the City G-d Built

dark archway in jerusalem opening up to lit street with two old women in the distance walking toward building

An intention to halt imminent dehousing, evictions and continued occupation of East Jerusalem

this is the city that g-d built
that every beam is kindness
that in the front yard grows a tree that belongs to the ancients and their children
that love is never a taking away
that in the streets now strewn in blood tears
we remember to pray
but first play
and so we forget our own house
and walk in g-d’s
