Blessing for Labour Day Monday

For those whose labours have been unrewarded.

And those whose rewards do not match their labours.

May we bind to each other on this day and all days.

May we refine our hearing.

And unwrap our own righteousness.

Toward the work of justice for all people.

And with the knowledge that fairness requires not only working for the benefit of all people but giving of our lives in such a way that all people benefit from us.

Lead us not into the narrowness of our struggle.

But into the wider call of people everywhere.

So that the promise of a better world
Is made real by attentive and willing human beings.

Who know not only the value of their life.

But the sanctity of every life.

To the protection and progression of us all.
