2 | “Enveloped”
Noah 7:11
“In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second New-Moon, on the seventeenth day after the New-Moon, on that day: all the fountains of the great deep burst apart, and the flood gates of the sky broke open.“ (JPS)
In this painting, the Ark, enveloped by the dark unknown, is both utterly isolated and ultimately protected. God’s presence is the only landmark.
