An Ode to Beloved Items

a bookshelf with vintage books
Thank you G-d, for worn spines and fragile paper.
For the joy these pages have brought to us and to all who have poured their heart into these words before you.
As their life comes to an end, we offer gratitude,
For their wisdom, cherished and holy.
For the memories glimpsed in snapshots of days past.

Notes in the margins
Coffee stains
Tears at the corners

Adorning each item with beauty and honor.

Let these words buried before you today,
Return to you, renew for you.
Grounded in you, we pray that they send out fresh roots creating a network of overlapping voices and ideas
Please let them grow in the freshly turned, rain soaked soil so that we may harvest them anew.
