After Miscarriage, You Are a Father Now

You are a father now,
Into eternity.
You conceived,
And even though
Your first will not be born,
Will never see
The light of the sun or the moon,
For a short while
S/he knew the light from the love
In your heart
That will never diminish.
Though there won’t be the anticipated
Late night feedings,
No tricycles and bicycles,
No first day of school,
There is always love.
You are a father now,
Into eternity.
