When my friend Margo Hittleman, who is a writer, asked me to officiate at her wedding, she created this interpretive translation to fit her and her fiancé’s sensibilities, drawing from and inspired by a variety of other interpretive translations.
Blessed is the Source of Life, creator of the fruit of the vine. We drink it as a symbol of our rejoicing.
Blessed is the awesomeness of Creation, each moment, each life.
Blessed is the Spirit giving life to us all.
Blessed is the Divine that lives within each of us, drawing us together in appreciation for the unity of all life.
Blessed is the Abundance of Love that envelops this couple and those who rejoice with them. Blessed is this couple who rejoices together here, as in the Garden of Eden of old. May their love be as old and as new as the loves that came before. And may it inspire the loves to come.
Blessed are the Gifts of happiness, joy, delight, play, love, friendship, community, celebration, wholeness and peace. May the love and delight of this couple reverberate among us and throughout the land.
