A reflection for Kol Nidre, for Yom Kippur

a picture of the cosmos, a swirling round planet

We come from the Ayn Sof as broken shards of creation
at the essence of each shard we find our light
There is the illusion that we are broken
It seems as though this cannot be avoided

The wholeness of our light is found in the still small voice
We hope to see beyond the dichotomy we have been tasked with
so we may bring ourselves back to wholeness

This is our journey

On Kol Nidre, at Yom Kippur we enter the Synagogue
As we pray to those who listen –
To the still small voice –
To Elohim
To all aspects of the brokenness we perceive

We ask ourselves, together in song, in worship, in prayer
in the melodies we hear, are we willing to go deeper this year
to hear that voice, to hear the call
to the Divine
