Breached: A Poem for Tisha B’Av

When all is destroyed; slashed, sacked and burned, nothing remains. No law to protect you, no food to nourish you, no arms to hold you. Only when you stand alone will you know who you truly are.

The wind shears through me
Bare, naked, cold
Breached boundaries
Ripped shreds, fall at my feet

On the Mount, I am raw
Exposed at my core
And you, Adonai
Are gone.
