Job’s Fire – A Ratzo V’shov Meditation

a blue ocean wave
The waves chant your name. The stars silently transmit a single word, your name. While my heart longs for what it cannot reach. Blessed be your name.

The earth is vast but not in comparison with the solar system, which is vast but not in comparison with the galaxy, which is vast but not in comparison with the universe, which is vast but not in comparison with the angels, which are vast but not in comparison with the Infinite light, which is vast but not in comparison with the Absolute in Itself, which is everywhere and in everything.

Why do you remain hidden, so we deny your name, or fight over your will? Reveal yourself! Bring healing to the sick, relief to the downtrodden, peace and justice to all. Indeed, you are a hidden God. Lie hidden no longer in the vacuum of your own making.

The universe is alive! The wild ox is alive! The great whale is alive! Where was I when they came into being? When the waters gushed forth and covered the earth, and the earth rose and was carpeted in green, as it spun through space and the stars ignited? I spoke once, but no more. I will be silent and gaze in wonder. For all is one, and besides It, there is no other.

In this world burns a fire – light it in my heart.
But still, the waves murmur your name…
And there is work to do on earth.
