A Ritual for Deciding to Have Children

One way to sanctify the decision to have children, whenever it is made, is at your Friday evening Shabbat meal after the recitation of Kiddush (the blessing over wine). Recite again the Sheva Brakhot (the seven blessings) that are traditionally recited for a bride and groom at their wedding. This way the conscious decision to have a baby is reconnected to your partnership.
