The Ruakh of Shabbat

woman's arm reaching out against a blurred background of trees

God, the Ruakh of Intimacy,
Please be with me
As I enter this sanctuary
Of time sanctified.

Shabbat is the act
Of breathing –
Breathing the same
Sweet breath,
Together.

Here is the lesson that is Shabbat:
We are spiritual beings
In a bodily experience.

Shabbat holds
Herself open.
All we need do
Is breathe,
And receive Her.

God, the Ruakh of Intimacy,
You fill my every cell
With my neshama.
And what could be closer than that?
