Simple Prayer

brown skinned woman with long dark hair in forest, hands pressed together, looking up, with a look of wonder or gratitude
I yearn.

I yearn like the tree in the forest
That longs for the light shimmering above.

I yearn like the parched plant in the desert
Thirsting for hints of moisture in the ground beneath my feet.

I yearn to grow and unfold
Into a vessel, a conduit
Of the divine.

So I, too, may transmit the illumination
And become an
Instrument of the light.
