Looking Beyond

a white dove opening its wings
Floating, after the flood,
Noah stood on the ark
searching the horizon
for a mountaintop,
a safe space
above the water.

He sent out a dove,
willing to believe,
even after forty days
and forty nights of rain,
trees could still exist.

The dove brought back
an olive branch.

Proof that if you look
beyond flood waters,
there will be dry land.
